To better prepare for the role, Vic and fellow cast member, Xiu Jie Kai (修杰楷), have signed up for martial arts lessons.

Their trainer praised Vic's potential in the sport.

With just a tank and sweats on, Vic revealed his lean body and down-to-earth side.

Simon Yam: Qiqi Sends Milk From Shanghai

Simon Yam (任達華), Julian Cheung (張智霖) and Kathy Chow (周汶錡) attended the Giorgio Armani Samsung Phone launch today.

Each guest was presented with the phone as a gift.

Julian joked that, if his wife, actress Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), wanted a Giorgio Armani Samsung Phone, he would be more than willing to purchase one for her but he would be keeping his for himself.

Julian has been busy filming new series, When Angels Fall In Love With Alfred Hitchcock <當天使受上希治閣>. He revealed that he will be portraying a twin brother. He also revealed that he will be pairing up with Yan Ng (吳日言). When it was pointed out that Yan, 24, is significantly younger, Julian, 36, admitted that she is one of the youngest co-stars he's worked with, but said that they have been getting on very well. He laughed that, judging by their appearances, it was not obvious that they differ significantly in age.

Asked to comment on the recent news of the milk powder shortage, Simon responded that his daughter no longer drinks milk powder so was not affected. However, he said that many of his friends who have children have been worried about the shortage. He revealed that some friends have even asked his wife Qiqi (琦琦) to purchase some milk powder from her hometown Shanghai and to send it down to Hong Kong.

Simon sighed that manufacturers did not consider the children when increasing the prices of milk powder. He added that the government was also at fault, because they failed to anticipate the shortage.

Dave Liang

After months of searching, we've managed to pin him down. Dave Liang talks music, life and love with Squat's Shereen Low

"My goal is to make a living, not be in tabloids"
Dave Liang is rather elusive. I first heard of his music in UK clubs from a DJ friend, who was impressed by two of his earlier tracks – "Wait For Me" and "Pump Them Brakes".

It struck me that he would be an interesting interview for Squat, so I began researching. A Google search simply turned up with non-impressive results relating to hundreds of other Chinese guys with the same name.

Dave, who had formerly been listed as David, now goes by the name of Shanghai Restoration Project rather than his own name when it comes to music.

Khalil Gives Concert Preview

Khalil Fong (方大同) was spotted at a local mall this afternoon, giving shoppers a preview of what to expect in his upcoming concert. He rehearsed two songs that will be performed during the concert.

When it was noticed that Khalil was speaking in a much softer tone than he normally uses, Khalil revealed that he has been trying to protect his voice so he can deliver his best during the concert. However, he managed to joke that, due to the stress of preparing for the concert, he had developed spots on his face.

When Khalil was asked who his guests will be at the concert, he revealed that the Hong Kong leg will have guests including Fiona Sit (薛凱琪), Endo Chow (周國賢), Kay Tse (謝安琪) and FAMA (農夫).

He confirmed that Elva Hsiao (蕭亞軒) will be his guest in his Taiwan concert. He added that, if she was in Taiwan to do some recording, Fiona will also be a guest perfomer.

Khalil revealed that there will be many acts during his concert. The singer-songwriter joked that his biggest talent lied in pulling gags rather than music composition.

Khalil’s Future Concert <未來演唱會> takes place 30 and 31 March at Star Hall, Kowloon Bay. Afterwards, Khalil will head to Taiwan for a one-day concert.

Elanne Kong Judges Design Contest

Elanne Kong (江若琳) was a guest judge for a design contest held yesterday in Mongkok. She showed off her long legs by wearing hot pants..

Elanne complimented the winner for being highly creative. The winner's piece was a mountain of real buns, with each containing a motivational word on the top.

When Elanne was asked if she had considered producing some of her own works, she modestly responded that her creativity was limited to her childhood days.

She revealed that she had never been gifted in art and, when she wanted to take art courses, her lack of creativity caused her to switch to home economics.

She added that she did not do better in home economics, particularly in the cooking. Asked if she had ever cooked for her previous boyfriends, Elanne answered that she had not. She added that, if she were to date, she would have to start taking home economics again to brush up on her skills. She commented that all females should be able to cook and, though she is not an expert at cooking, her soups were passable.

Elanne said that, though she did not excel in arts or home economics, she did perform particularly well in physical education, with the exception of swimming. She explained that her fear of water was because she had an incident during her childhood when she almost drowned. However, she revealed that she does make visits to the beach during her free time. Asked if she was afraid of having her photos taken by the media while at the beach, Elanne said that she was not at all worried because she had worn swimsuits in past pictorials.

Elanne will soon start filming for her new TVB series, alongside Ron Ng (吳卓羲), and was asked if she is afraid of rumours about them developing. Elanne responded that she was not worried, because whether or not there would be rumours was not up to her, but rather the media, so she is prepared.

Tony Leung Wins Best Actor at Asian Film Awards

The Second Asian Film Awards Ceremony (第二屆亞洲電影大獎頒獎典禮) marked the beginning of the Hong Kong Entertainment Expo (香港影視娛樂博覽) today at the Hong Kong Convention And Exhibition Centre in Wanchai.

In an event that celebrated the best in cinema from across Asia, the Best Actor award was presented to Hong Kong's own Tony Leung (梁朝偉) for his performance in the highly acclaimed Lust Caution <色。戒> and the Best Actress accolade was bestowed upon Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon for her performance in Secret Sunshine.

Secret Sunshine also won Best Film and Best Director for Lee Chang-dong.

Tony made his acceptance speech in perfect English and expressed his thanks to director Ang Lee (李安) for showing him how to get into character. He also thanked his girlfriend Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) for her support. He added that without them he would not have this success.

Jeon seemed rather nervous when she accepted her award, saying that she did not know whether or not she would win with her portrayal of a mentally disturbed mother. She said that the biggest challenge was not playing a character with a psychological condition, but playing a mother because she does not have children of her own. She added that she also found it hard to pull out of character after filming

The Best Supporting Actor award was presented to top mainland actor Sun Honglei (孫紅雷) for his performance in Mongol, a historical epic directed by Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov. Sun expressed his disappointment that Sergei could not be at the ceremony and added that this award was not just his own achievement but a reflection of the quality of the production and cast.

Joan Chen (陳沖) scooped the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in The Sun Also Rises <太陽照常升起>. She began her acceptance by thanking director Jiang Wen (姜文) for giving her such a great part and also complimented him for being an exceptional director who has taught her a lot. She recalled many happy and unforgettable memories from filming and also thanked her husband and family.

Revered Japanese director Yoji Yamada was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to Japanese cinema over the past five decades.

Other awards presented included the Asian Newcomer award, which went to Hiroshi Ishii, and Best Screenplay, which went to Au Kin Yee (歐建兒) and Wai Ka-Fai (韋家輝) for Mad Detective <神探>.

Entertainment for the ceremony was provided by talented Singaporean songstress Stefanie Sun (孫燕姿), who performed songs in Mandarin, Cantonese and Korean. She revealed that she had spent a month perfecting the Korean song.

The "Asian Oscars" attracted many local and overseas guests to take a walk down the red carpet and many of the ladies showed off a selection of international and local designer frocks.

Shu Qi (舒淇) appeared wearing a pretty pink Valentino number and several hundred thousand dollars worth of Cartier jewellery. Asked about the rumours of her old flame Leon Lai (黎明)'s marriage, she wished him the best and commented on how romantic his wedding is being speculated to have been.

Also wearing seven-figures worth of Cartier jewellery was Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅), who donned a beautiful Marc Jacobs dress that revealed a playful glimpse of a white bra. She explained that this was part of the design and not a wardrobe malfunction. Asked about being photographed on a date with rumoured boyfriend Real Ting (丁子高) recently, Miriam said that the photograph was taken at the graduation party of an accountant friend and that there were many other people there. She laughed that life for an artiste was like a reality show every day, so she was prepared for any aspect of her life to be published.

When asked if she was aware of the news of her boss Leon's wedding, Miriam said that she knew he was currently on vacation, but was unsure as to whether or not he was getting married.

Fresh from taking a newcomer's award from an earlier film awards ceremony, Kate Tsui (徐子珊) attended the event in a figure hugging number and revealed that the dress had been especially flown in from London for the event. She was accompanied down the red carpet by fellow big screen newcomer Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎).

The Entertainment Expo continues with a string of high profile events until 13 April.
